When you hear that the high 50s are headed your way (which is balmy in Western WA right now), you don’t expect to wake up to this:

The surprise made it all the better. Not so much snow to cause a fuss, but enough to coat all the bare and twiggy branches with a thin layer of white frosting that looked good enough to eat. Coupled with the extra surprise of a brilliant blue sky in the morning, it was quite a site.

Never mind that new growth is peaking up everywhere, the snow did not care. Good news: snow is an insulator and ground temperatures did not dip too low overnight. The warmth of the now stronger March sun sent the snow packing in by mid-morning. Thursday is supposed to reach 60 degrees. Time to get some of those chores done.
